Step by Step Easy Guide to Install Windows XP

It is very important for us to know how to install Windows XP because some time Operating system may get corrupted due to power failure or by some virus problems.Below I have written detailed step by step guide to install Windows XP.

Some Notes before starting Windows XP installation: Never save any data on desktop or C: drive because it may slow down your OS and Installing or reinstalling Windows XP only affects C: drive so you should save your data on another drives or on Storage devices like CD/DVD.

Step 1 : Insert the windows XP operating system CD in your CD/DVD ROM and then restart your PC,Go to BIOS Setting by pressing DELETE button as soon as your system restarts or reboot.Go to Boot order and make CD ROM first OS booting source. Save the settings and again restart your computer system.

When PC reboots it asks Press any button to boot from CD and your should press any button.After successfully boot from the CD, you will see a Windows XP Welcome to Setup  screen and you have to press ENTER to begin the setup process.

Step 2: After you press ENTER,you will see  Windows XP license agreement page. Here You to press F8 to accept it .

Step 3: Now first Windows will automatically search for existing Windows installations(if any). You will see the next repair or install fresh copy screen appear only if you are reinstalling a new XP operating system.

Note: If you are  installing operating system first time then you will not see this page,skip to next step.

Step 4: If you don’t want to repair then press ESC key. After pressing the ESC key, you will get a list of partitions available on your hard drive.Select the partition in which you want to install Windows XP,usually C:  by using UP and DOWN arrow keys and if you don’t have any partitions then press C button and create partitions and press ENTER to install OS on selected partition.

Step 5:  When you press ENTER to install OS,you will see format page and select the option to “Format the partition using the NTFS file system (quick) and press ENTER.

Press F key to continue formatting selected partition.

 

 

Step 6: After formatting the drive, it will automatically start copying the contains from your CD .

Step 7: After copying from CD it will restart and ask you a message Press any key to continue from CD,Do not press any key otherwise it will start formatting again from the first step. After few second you will see the windows screen.The Setup will continue and it will ask you to enter the product key,Username,password,set time etc…

Just simple steps and your system is ready to use.
